    Camparison between 84 & 85 honda atc 110/shifting patterns

    Hey guys,
    Does anybody know the reason why on certain years the shifting was reversed on some atc's? Like for instance my 84 atc 110, were to shift from Neutral to 1st you have to shift down on the foot pedal. & on the 85 110 it's the opposite Just curious.

    i thought all hondas 110 185 and 200s you had to shift down to go from n-1st
    1984 yamaha 200k
    1985 honda 70...some times swap the 125 lifan for fun

    1985 seemed to be the turning point for down shift models to switch to up shifting. I remember hearing once it was a safety issue - as it is easier to shift down to slow down than it is to shift up. I think in 1985 all semi-auto models shifted up even the ATC70s.

    i hadnt rode a honda atc in bout 10 yrs till i got my 110 a couple of months ago and it took me a while to get used to the shift pattern it was like i forgot how to ride one. im was so used to shift up to go up a gear.
