got the electrical on, I replaced the stator coil, the cdi pulse coil and the cdi. I just wanted to be sure all my electrical problems would be cured.

added a six pack rack that I bought about fifteen years ago and has been waiting for this project. also put on my cascade flag holder.

    bought a new carb

time to work on the motor. I removed the valve caps checked the valves. exhaust was fine but the intake was pretty tight. I'm sure the timing chain needs replaced but maybe at a later date.
I cleaned it as best I could but it has 28 yrs of baked on mud!.

    my floating adult beverage holder.

the first run. I figured out why it didnt run after prep ing the tank. the petcock was stuffed up with crud and no possible way fuel could get through.but after a good clean out this beast fired up first pull!!!

as far as the exhaust, the stock was so rusted it crumbled in my hands as I took it off. a piece of one inch round tubing took its place.heres a very short vid.

that is bad ass, love the german helmet and props on the build. i kinda got turned off by choppers when i saw sauls because it was such a waste of a 250 big red. but that thing is well done

Neat looking project, looks like you have alot of time in it.Can I ask a question about how you extened the frontend.Did you put a sleeve in the tubes where you extended them?It didn't look like it to me,no plug welds holding them.If you didn't you might be heading for trouble, could break apart.Plus the work on the neck should have been plated on the outside. There will be alot of stress there. One more thing I didn't see a gas bottle on your welder. The gas-less wire isn't the best thing to use on a job like this.I hope you don't get mad but wouldn't want you to get hurt.

I thought about that before the build and yes, i bought steel tube that ran inside. I would not trust my life on some welds. rest assured I dont want to get hurt either. most of the welds i smoothed out with bondo before I painted it. theres only four visible welds on the forks.
