memoriessssss. when my friend an i were about 15 we bought one for 70 bucks, beat the snot out of it in the woods and it kept on ticking. Same day we bought it we dropped the front drive shaft right out of it. So we only had 2wd the hole time of owning it. It still went places where you wouldnt think a 2wd could go. We beat the crap out of that truck.

i think ours had a bad water pump. it would over heat like a mad man. let it sit for a while and off you go. i miss those crazy days. i think ours was a 88? same age as i am. it will be going on 22 now. i miss that old rat trap. I need to find another one. too many good times in that old bronco 2.

I had an 89 back in like 97 that i picked up for free. it had been wrecked, slapped a junkyard front end and was good to go. Mine was a 2wd but was very good offroad and could take jumps as good as my quad. I had pics one time of me catching 6' of air out of that thing. nothing could kill it except for the final straw. busted the radiator offroading, tried to make it to the junk yard to buy another and it started knocking, then lost the driveshaft about a mile from the salvage yard. they gave me $300 for it and a ride home.
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

i pulled a few out with my old 4runner . They are quite capable off road. but the high center of gravity gets you on hard off camber sections. I believe them to be IFS and not solid axle? I hate IFS, will be the death of me, lol. The beauty thing is the canopy, its great in the summer. Same as my old 1st gen 4runner, i LOVED it...

Did you cut the roof off or was it like that already? They are durable but the Twintraction beam front end does not flex that good off road.

Hey Cox i have a 4runner like you had a 85 4runner with 33" 5" lift and a welded rear.. the 4cyl 22re has the same torque numbers as the 2.9 like in his bronco more then the carbed 2.8. here is a pic for you it has some off road battle wounds.

Mine sucked balls. I had an '86 Ranger with a 5-speed and it couldn't get out of it's own way. Out of the dozen or so vehicles I've owned, I hated that thing the most. In fact, it made me swear off owning Fords forever. Good luck with it.

heres some info on the ttb (twin traction beam)
    http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/showthread.php?t=9287

Dont bother with a SAS(soild axle swap), for the type of wheeling your probably doing you dont need it, the ttb will be just fine

ttb doesnt shine in the rocks,it does just fine in the mud,and where it really shines is in the desert(go fast),you can get 16-18 inches of travel if setup properly. Most people just dont understand how to align or setup ttb

Looks like you have a decent little rig there, have fun with it
