    85 250r front forks.

How much fluid cc do i put in my front forks, and what kind or what am I supposed to use, and can I put directly in the vaulve stem or do i have to take the whole top off. Or what is the procedure.

    Thx

Jack the front end of the trike off the ground. There is a drain bolt on the bottom of each fork leg to drain them. Loosen the fork tube caps carefully because they will still have some tension on them from the fork springs. Flush the fork tubes with the drain bolt still removed. Stock replacement oil for them was ATF which is about 7.5 wt I believe. If you are a heavier or more aggressive rider, than I suggest putting 15wt in them. They take 400cc each.

Push the schrader valve in first to make sure there is no air pressure in them. Then take the cap off.

Ninja, what do you suggest using to flush 'em out?

"I" don't suggest ever flushing them out, why introduce contaminents into the fork system? To do it correctly, they get torn down, cleaned, inspected and parts replace; None of which are very expensive......

Pour the fluid over the springs with a Pyrex cup/funnel or whatever. Just get the SAME EXACT AMOUNT in each fork.

Thats why allot of guys pull the spring, push and lower the tube and add the fluid to a certain height from the top. Then you KNOW each side has the exact same amount of fluid............

Well, he wasn't asking about a teardown, just simply a fluid change. I provided the necessary information. When I suggested flushing them, I meant with fresh fork oil, then cycling the forks up and down several times and draining. If you change your fork oil a couple of times a year, this method will suffice.

    hey bud,

you can try some progressive springs that will be your biggest help,

but as a quick fix you can use anywhere from 1-3 PVC spacers and some heavier oil in them.

I ran 2 seasons on prog springs, 1.5 spacers and some heavier oil and it was fine!

Yah PVC will hold, 1-3 inch pending riding style and weight.
Put the PVC on the top of your springs, right below the caps
