    Kickstarter problem when really cold

The kickstart on my 86 250es works like it should in normal temperatures but when temp goes below freezing it just goes down freely. If I ride it for a couple of minits it works OK again. It is too high in the crancase to freeze up. What should I be looking for???????

It's just the one way bearing located in the centrifugal clutch and thick cold oil may cause it to slip.

Are you running 10/30 or 10/40 in colder months?

I imagine 20/50 would /could make it worse......

I was thinking it may be the one way clutch but it has been a lot colder in past winters than this one. I can`t remember if I changed it in this trike or not. The oil is 10w-40 m/c oil. I like to use the kickstart to help the battery out a bit when it is cold. When it warms up a bit I will haul it out and clean it up. Can`t be too much wrong as it works OK when it is run for a couple of minits.
    Thanks for the reply.
