I hate to ask, but when you say 500, do you mean XR500? I may want to replace mine on my '85 X. It doesn't seem to work to well just by pushing on it. Doesn't bounce at all, barely goes down any.

Even if you find something similar and with the same mounting; It won't be "made" for the 86/87 200X and isn't valved the same etc etc. Although it may fit, it probably won't work that well.

You cn find good, used units from time to time for about 100$. Or pay 150$-200$ to have one rebuilt, which apparently, we can get seal heads and bump stops etc etc.

I have at least 5 of these and one of them will be my "expirement" for rebuilding it myself this spring/summer

SBLT500 (on the boards) - also rebuilds and sells shocks, some he has all ready to roll.

Which reminds me, MAN!! we haven't gone on a good ride for awhile now, I bet the power lines are a disaster after all this rain! Sorry to the OP for the OT.............

I would just rebuild the shock, if you watch ebay every now and then there is a rebuilt one and they go for alot.

Some other stuff i found out.....recently I sold some NOS progressive suspension shock springs for 83-85 200X. I was searching for old application charts and found an old PS chart that showed the same part# for 1983-87. I called up Pipeline Triker and he pulled the shock off his 86 X. The progressive spring was a perfect fit, he's a bigger guy (well, for a 200X anyway) and it worked awesome. Much less sag and the shock is pretty tuff to bottom. I also compared his 86 shock spring to an 85 spring I had sitting around. They are nearly the same length and they are the same ID, but the 85 spring is beefier and seems to be stiffer....it might be a low cost option if you need a stiffer rear shock spring for your 86-87X. I am going to try it out in the spring just for an experiment.

I am talking about the rear shock spring. They are discontinued from progressive but are still available from some places for around $90.
