would anyone else waste there time on this 200X?

This is what I dragged home last week, along with a 185S motor, Im missing the cdi cover, but have the module, pickup, switches. The thing needs a front caliper, exhaust, plastics, seat and a carb to just get started. I dont know if Id get too upside down in it. I threw a ad on the local craigslist to see if I can score some cheap parts local. We'll see. jim

Waste? I have seen people start with much less before, just a matter of what you want to invest into it.

Do you have a specific riding style? I've seen people put 185s and 200s in those with the automatics and it made for a good trail machine.

I was thinking autoX, but Im just getting in over my head with too many projects. We've got a 185S that needs a stator, and im swapping the hubs to the 200X style to use the wheels and tires I have. That would get that one running, The R needs a piston, and gaskets at a minumum, But since its apart, may as well install new bearings. Then the 200X. Its probably getting the 185 motor. Then it needs everything else.
We're putting a blower on the camaro, and I need to get a few more parts to finish that. picked up a trailer and it needs to be rewired for lights and brakes. The list just goes on and on.

You certainly have a solid start, but if you have too many projects, just sell it to someone who has time to get it going. Or store it for a while until you get other things out of the way. Either way, it has potential. I've started with much less.

yeah, I hear you. I have so many projects, I am getting a head of my self. Use what ever parts you can and try to sell the rest of it for what your into it for. Cut your losses early, besides, IMO, you can find a nice running bike for less than a grand anywhere. How much do you think it is going to cost if you consider your time as $$$$$$

    again, IMO

I never consider time as a cost factor, this is a hobby, it would be like trying to recoup your cost watching TV. jim

Looks like a good start, ive build many 200x's from just a bare frame. i have a lot of the parts if you wanting some stuff cheap like tanks, seats, fenders, exhaust, you name it i prob got what you need and could ship in a big parts lot to save ya some bucks.

If you're set on keeping it, tip it up on it's tail and stick it in a corner of your shop somewhere.

I think those are the best to start with. If you are going to tear it down and put new and updated parts on it why waste the money on complete. Gives you a good start to make the wheeler you really want.

I'd use it as a parts machine. you would have a lot into that, when you could buy one that needs parts off that one, and be into it much less.
