    Centripical Clutch Drum

It seems everytime I post I have a question, Im so sorry guys, one day Ill know enough so I can help others, lol. The clutch drum on my 81' 185s has grooves worn in it so I was going to get a new one from cheapcycleparts. Now I have a few friend's telling me that even a new one has grooves in it like mine. I thought a new one would be machined smooth? I don't know for sure but the grooves in mine are probably about 5 thousands deep.

I'm pretty sure they should be smooth. Just out of curiosity, how much does that place want for a new drum?

That sounds about right. I would look for one used myself though. They're much cheaper. The 185, 185s, 200, 200e, 200es, 200m and '84 TRX200 all share the same drum.

Im just afraid by doing that I may buy something that is just as good as the one I have. I will try to get a pic of the condition of mine. Pretty sure it is still ok to use but didn't really want to chance it and wear out the new shoes to quickly.

Wow, to me they look even and meant to be there?????? Can't be that way though...... Thats gotta be worn to hell, where are the shoes' picture? Give em up!

Is a new one supposed to be perfectly smooth?? Me thinks so!!) Did that one get so worn that the shoes that fling out were GONE and the associated parts did that damage?? I wonder if (the outer drum can be turned smooth again (on a lathe)? Its just a centrifugal clutch though, It's job is done once your rolling............

The main clutch gets beat up (ridges on the forks), how is yours on that machine??

Those ridges are huge!! It had to be super low on oil or worn to hell to do that!! Or, I'm CRAZY (which is debatable within itself )

Keep postin, I w3ann know whats up with this pup!!

There is nothin left of the shoes. They were worn way down and I have been burning them up even more from riding it the last 6 months and the regular clutch pack was slipping also. I replaced all of it, including getting a good used drum. Its like riding a brand new ATC now.
