sx vs es differential. what is the verdict?

After looking on here for ages as to if the sx has a higher geared rear differential than the ex, I could come up with nothing. Everyone was so unsure. Just wondering now if anyone has a better idea on the matter. Is the diff the same as the es or is it higher geared? Would be great to put one into my es.

    Thanks guys.

I like my Bigred with the sx differential. I done the swap 3 years ago after one of Sandpuppys rides.
It was up on the long straight trails I realized I needed just a tad bit more top end speed and I got exactly what I wanted by doing the swap.
What I learned in was that if you have a 85es, you will need to use a 85sx differential. Same with if you have a 86, you need to use the 86 differential. Then it will be a direct swap out.
Dose it make a huge difference, no. I can only describe it as moving up a gear all around.
Creeper first gear is still a creeper first gear, just a little bit taller so to speak just like the other 4 will be.
Still has plenty of pulling power to pull a out of gas quad thru miles of trail with a big fella on the quad,,, like somebody with the same initials as Derrick Adams
    Good swap IMO.

I'm preety sure the sx and es differential is the same, same ratio. The ratio difference is in the transmission.I have many spare sx and es gearbox and the are all the same.....The main difference is the axle and hud between 85 and 86.

Drive shafts are different between the 2 years (slightly different) Dominic.
Yes, you are right, there are tranny gearing differences as well.
But I got the proof in the pudding (so to speak).

The ES diff gives you more low end grunt but less top end speed.

The tranny gears DO CHANGE, (although it's been argued about a dozen times) but that is what it is.

The big speed change is in the diff of the silver colored ES differential......................

Here ya go, post #4; http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthr...+es+gear+chart

The TRX diff can be swapped in too. It has alot more torque than the SX diff. With 21''s it climbs hills great but can't go fast at all. With 25''s it is perfect.
