Glamis! (Imperial Sand Dunes) Probably the most famous riding area in the world
GPS: 32.991495,-115.076766
Directions: Link to google maps.
Rules: Parking/camping permit required for every vehicle (ie: truck, RV, etc). Each OHV is required to either have state registration or for non-residents, a non-resident permit can be bought. Availble online, at the Glamis Beach Store, local motorsports shops or on busier weekends from the checkpoints entering the camping areas. Online is typically the cheapest route for purchasing passes. AZ residents who have a plate and OHV decal no longer need the non-resident permit. Helmets are required for everyone on a bike or ATV. Whips are required for all vehicles in the riding areas. Speed limits enforced near crowds of people and campgrounds. Rules are VERY strictly enforced.
Review: Seemingly endless expanses of twisting sand dunes. The larger ones can be up to 300 feet tall. Bowls big enough to hold a 250R wide open in 6th gear. The most popular areas are definitely Oldsmobile Hill and the drag strip. On Holiday weekends there can be THOUSANDS of people in just these two areas. Overall on a Major weekend, there can be as many as 250,000 people there.
