    200x hard starting??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

having trouble searching the forums so i figured i would just ask.put new valve seals in my 85 200x the other day, trike always started easy, couple kicks no choke, now i have to find just the right spot and it will fire up.it ties to start on just about every kick, but it is picky now,got to keep slowly winding it up and then give it one good kick.no longer able to sit on it and kick, got to stand off to the side.getting plenty of fuel, and good spark.kind of frustrating!!any info,or a link to this problem somewhere else on here?thanks in advance!!!

i would check your timing...a service manual has instructions on how to do it. my 200x acted like that after my rebuild until i set the timing.

might valve seals change the vacuum? esp if they needed changing from leaking / smoking?

would a vacuum change cause a mixture change?

is there any correlation between vacuum and timing like on other types of engines?I.m not exactly sure how these timing things work, altho I did see a swiveling breakerplate with little springs in a box of honda parts the other day.

Might been a 185 but I wouldn't bet on that

Then its timing or your carb, cant nothing other then that unless your plugs too bad.

Mine was starting like a beast last weekend and I changed the plug and it helped a lot. Plug was black since I still have some carb tuning to do.

Try a Ngk Dr7es instead....a bit hotter. Worked like a charm in my 84 200x. It loved to eat dr8es plugs. Never had a problem with it after installing that plug. May not be your case but worth a try

Your valve clearance is important....."jiggling" them isn't really a good method of checking them. This could be your problem....it might be worth it to actually verify that your valves are properly adjusted, just in case it is in fact your problem. Otherwise you could be wasting your time with all other avenues explored.
