    I need some advices !!!

OK, so this is my problem:
I have a '85 250SX and there is a battery reloading problem on it,i spend a lot of money on it (1500$ CAN) and it still has problems, so it makes me angry everytime i think about it. And my friend's gonna buy a new ATV next spring, so he said to me that i could buy one too so we could ride together, but I'm almost 16 years old and I wanna keep my cash to go study english, and to buy my car (in 2 years) and i also thought about buying a 125CC motocross...anyways so here is my question:

Should I keep what i have, repair it and keep my cash? OR sell my SX and buy a motocross or a cheap ATV ?

What's wrong with the SX? I just got into trikes not too long ago because they are cheap (relatively) and I rode them as a kid and had a blast. I've found the two I have now to be rock solid BUT -- when I bought them, especially the big red, I knew I would need to do a little work to get them running top notch. When I ride either of them, I KNOW they won't leave me on the trail. A lot of new quad owners are scared to say the same. I say figure out what the problem is and put a little time into fixing it -- save the money!

You will be glad that you kept it in the end. Either find the problem and fix it, or trade for one that is running in similar condition, and at around the same price.

The problem with my SX is that the battery just doesn't reload good...at the beginning it is 12,54V, i start it -> 12,48V and when i give it some throttle, 12,53V...normally its supposed to climb to 13,5V... :x and i changed the stator and the regulator, and the battery is brand new...

Does it still start and run??? If it does I wouldn't really worry about it. Don't 250SX's have a back-up starter???

The things you should check start with all connections from the stator to volage regulator and then to the battery, and the check tha main fuse. I am assuming that the stator that you replaced was used since they are obsolete now. If your connections are all good I would guess that you have a bad stator.
You are right about looking at the voltage reading across the positve and negative terminal of the battery while the bike running should be around 1 volt higher than when it is not running. If you don't feel like fixing it right now just charge the battery overnight and don't use the headlight it should last quite a while before it goes dead. If your kickstarter works it is just as easy to start that way also.

Yes, the 250SX has an electric starter...and mine starts very well when the battery is good, and it runs fine...

And for you, kdagenais, here is what i think my problem is:
i went to a garage, and the guy there was good in trikes, so i decided to let my SX to him. He changed the stator, he did a multimeter test and he said that it was climbing to 14V. Then, when I got it back, my dad bought a brand new battery, i put it in, did another multimeter test and it was still not realoading good...so when i'm gonna have it back (my SX is at my camp, im gonna take it this week), i'm gonna put my old battery in it and THEN im gonna try another multimeter test...if it works, i'm gonna stay with the same setting...

    Thanx for your help guys
