My 70 choke lever was broken so I got a new one off of ebay... problem is, I don't see how to take the old one off... do I have to remove the carb to do it? It doesn't show anything in my shop manual. TIA!

the carb has to come off and the choke butterfly has to be removed. the factory crimped the back side of the screw so it would not fall out and get sucked into the engine. you will have to be careful when removing it so you don't goof up the threads or twist off the screw. when going back together i would use red loc tight.
