    86 250sx swingarm race plate

I am trying to figure out best way to get out the metal plate behind the races in swing arm. I hate to drill into it, don't want metal pieces winding up in new bearings.I know the plates are throw away. Is it possible to bash it through and out the other side, any one tried this?

It's very thin, smash it through...............

Then fill the void with a large wooden dowel (so it won't eat up all your grease) and then tap those 2 holes in the center tube for a grease fitting. You'll never change them again!
