Tecate Kicker locks up

My Tecate kick lever is locking up about half way down the rotation. It only does it when you kick the thing over, NOT, when you push it down by hand. I can carefuly push it round the whole cycle slowly without it jamming up.
So from this, could it be the thrust from the kick action that is creating the lock, that the gear is not being thrown far enough over ? I didn't know if it was a worn or broken shim behind the kick gears.
It does it 90% of kicks, not every one. The time it started, the kicker broke on the second kick. This was the first time since i had the bike, it ever did it. I got a new kicker and tried it gently the other day, but it's not right.
Anyone else had a problem like this or heard of it ?

i have had this problem on a dirt bike and one of my kick start idler gears was getting loose and had some play in it so when i would kick it it would cock and not want to spin, i would maybe try looking into that, but that is if it is easy to get into and see. dont to a whole damn tear down just off what my experience

Never had that problem except when some parts were jammed up in the clutch side gears.

I would check the interact between the kicker gear and the idle gear and the clutch basket gear. Look for wear or misalignment.

Sounds like you could have some gualing on either the kicker gear or even the shaft. Best thing would be do pull your cover and inspect it. Do you have any oil leaking out around the cover seal? If so it could be binding up the shaft in the case and the cover when you kick it from excessive wear.
