    hole in cobra pipe

I have a brand new cobra pipe on my big red with about 3 hours on it. It has developed what looks like a bubble right where it comes out of the cylinder. (this is not the paint--it's a hard metal bubble)--my plug says i'm still running rich and the trike runs great. Is this a defect that anyone has heard of? Could I be running hot despite a rich plug?

Hot enough to put a bubble in the headpipe?? I don't think you'd be running at all! Thin spot in the metal? Hmm, that sure sounds whacked :?

I just put the Cobra utility exhaust on my 185S and mine has done the same. It's about a 1/8" from the nut where it mounts to the cylinder. I thought it was dirt so I tried to wipe it off and it's hard as a rock.

yeah, mine's the utility series too. Nothing I can do i guess except never get another cobra. I don't mind the bubble but if it burns through, i'll be pissed. Running fine other than that. How about the 185? Running ok?

If I was you guys I would call a complaint line, and let them know about the problem. I would be nice and polite and just tell them you are a little dissappointed in there product. I would also have a receipt ready to show them the purchase date. You never know it might be worth a discount or maybe a free pipe. The squeeky wheel gets greased.

I had a hard time keeping it running, so I adjusted the carb and seems to run fine now. Most of the paint has come off the on the headpipe did yours do that also or is that normal? I was also kinda mad that the spark arrestor wasn't screwed in tight, and I never thought to check it so it almost fell out.

Oh, the paint came off of mine the first 10 minutes I ran it. I haven't checked the spark arrestor

You get what you pay for - A good four stroke pipe seems to be 300$ or more. Cobras are mostly under 150$.

    Dg under $150

My DG on my 200X was $150 and I have had it for 3 years with no problems. You don't have to spend $300 to get a decent pipe for a 4 stroke.

There's no way I'm gonna spend $300 on a pipe. That's half the cost of the trike. I'd rather use the stock setup and put $300 toward a 200x--anyone got one?

I'm sorry - I guess I didn't mean it quite that way. But it seems that all the new performance 4 strokes now require a really "tuned" in pipe and can and are quite expensive. DG does make a really nice pipe - I'd say there a step up from the COBRA. At least the COBRA is available for the 250SX I don't believe anyone else makes an AM exhaust for the SX.
