How do I lube the brake cables?

    Hi Guys,

I have an ATC 70, and the little brake seems very hard to pull. How can I make it easier? I'm guessing it needs to be lubricated. How do I lubricate it?

    Thanks, Matt

You can buy a Cable Lubricator - that is the best way. they are failry inexpensive - roughly $5

Are you sure it is the cable? Have you tried disconnecting it and manually moving the actuating lever to be sure.....
It's certainly possible the cable is rusty or even frozen but I would start with the brake drum first, because that is just as likely if not more so to have some issues causing your problem.

You can buy brake cables from eBay for about $13. If it's definitely your cable(s), I would just replace them... nothing feels better than new brake cables!!

Old fashioned way to lube them was to use a funnel and some plastecene clay to adapt it to the end of the cable, then pour in some light oil and wait for it to trickle down.
