    Transmission binding

Ok, after taking the cases apart twice on my '85 125m, it still doesn't seem right to me. When I try to shift through the gears, it often gets stuck between 1 and 2. The star thingie gets between positions, and then it won't turn. I've looked everything over carefully, and all the gears are clean, all washers are where they belong. I'm at a loss. I had asked this before, but is this just because the machine isn't put all the way together? It seems like if I turn the input shaft and hold the output shaft and shift with my nose , it doesn't have the problem.

hey, that's normal, as the gears won't line up until they move.

That's just what I was thinking, but I've never seen one of these shift while apart, so I started to worry, and was scared to put it all back together. Taking it all apart was a PITA, and I don't want to do it again!

Resurrecting, but i too just put my 125m back together and it binds ect while trying to shift it. Even while turning the trans input and output shafts. I may just rock it as is in hopes it works with oil in the case later.
