    Dead in the water

My KLT 185 likes to Die when I try and make it go through water. The first time it happened was 2 weeks ago I was dared to go through the "mud pit" I hit it hard and fast 3rd gear down to 2nd and made it through and the thing died. 5mins Later Started right back up! Last weekend tried it in slowmo 2nd gear to first and it left me stranded right in the middle of it. Pushed it out and started it a couple mins later and rode away.
Why is it doing this to me?
Lucky for me the water is only 1ft to 1 1/2ft deep

you have an electrical connection / component that is not water tight - could be lots of different ones - first one that comes to mind is spark plug wire / cap - could have a slice in the wire or a bad rubber grommet where it fits over the plug.

pack your connections in grease (inside and out) then coat them with black tape tightly! This is an old trick of Mud Truck runners.

Get your plug wire wet, get someone else that you don't particularly care for to hold it, kick/pull start the machine, if they yell, you're getting water in between the boot and plug wire and the spark is traveling the path of least resistance.

My X used to do the same thing after riding in the snow for awhile.
If you can't fix it with a , its an electrical problem.

I packed all my connectors with white lithium grease and took it right through that killer mud hole. Hopefully I will get someone with a camera so I can post a pic or 2 from next weekends ride.
