Wink First 3 Wheeler 185S - Couple of Questions

Hello everybody. Today I bought my first first three wheeler and it is actually for the kids although I sure had fun riding it today also. It is a 1982 Honda 185. The bike is a beauty and looks great or its age. My questions are:

    1. It seems that the pressure is building in the crank. At first I thought I was leaking oil somewhere because after riding for a few minutes you could visibly see oil burning off the pipe in the front. After further inspection I realized its coming out of the bolts holding the head down. Also you can hear and see the pressure release from the dip stick. It has to be quite a high amount of pressure to force it past these bolts. I was wondering if anyone knew what causes this and what I can do about it. It does have a hose coming out of the top of the crank that I thought was the pressure release hose.

    2. This bike down shifts really hard. In fact while driving its near impossible to downshift (shift back up), its so hard that the kids and my wife couldn't do it. It really doesn't want to go into neutral either, you have to monkey around with it to get it to go. Does anyone know what would cause this?

All comments and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks so much!

if the cylinder dosnt have the correct compression that could be your crankcase pressure problem, if the rings are worn the commpression created by the pistin could go around it and build pressure in the case. the leaky head could simply be the seal around the compression release. as for your shifting, try adjusting the clutch. its on the right side case cover (as you are sitting on the bike) just back off the nut and tighten the screw until you feel resistance, then go back an 1/8 turn, then tighten the nut back up

The guy I bought it from said he just re-built himself, supposedly he's a mechanic at a dealer. Do you think he put the wrong rings in or the rings are wrong somehow? IS there a way to adjust compression on cylinders? I know that probably sounds ridiculous but I dont know anything about motors.

@ RickyX - Thanks for the tips.

those rings are tricky if your not paying attention to detail.they only go one way correctly.also dont over tighten your cylinder bolts where you said its leaking oil,it only takes like 22 ft lbs.you should have a tube that comes out of the cases on top behind the jug.make sure it is breathing and not clogged.is there too much oil in there? this will also do what you said.
