    85 200x Rebuild issue ( extra parts?!?! )

I just rebuilt and reassembled one of my 200x engines. Now I have a few extra parts that I cannot find in any of the manual diagrams. Part #1 is this spring. Please let me know if you have any idea where this goes, or if it just somehow ended up in my parts box, heh. It's about 9/16 of an inch in diameter and the same length. Thanks,
    Zach

I was gonna say, I hope that isn't the kicker ratchet spring! but it would be larger than that!

That might be your "power band spring

Hold on a second do you have your shifter spring - goes on shift shaft and loads shifter plate to hold it in contact with end of shift drum pins in place ? most often never dissassyed but P/N 24631-107-000. Mike ex Honda wrench. or maybe oil filter spring P/N 15426-107-000 ? THE SPRING AND SCREEN ONLY GO ONE WAY FOR PROPER FILTERING. ck these guys. I changed a million 200x oils. a lot were missing them. and replaced many 200x trans updates ~83 (84-86). yank split completely open and reassy.

That kind of looks like a pullstart spring for a 200s/185s

It could be your oil screen filter spring. i know my xr200 dirtbike had one like that. i'd just check it next time you change oil, if its there yay, if not, put it in and see if it works.

It's way to small to be the oil filter spring .

85 200x didnt have an oil filter, just the screen.

Pull the oil drain plug (looks like a valve cover cap) and look for it in there

I'm almost 90% sure its the spring on the shift shaft. Look at the parts manual or service manual for part # or where the part goes but it looks like a shift shaft spring for sure.

Thanks guys. cbx and Danold were right. I found it the other day when I noticed the bike wouldn't shift, but just hadn't gotten around to posting it. It was on the shift shaft and I guess it had just popped off when I had the case open. Here's a picture of it for you all: http://i396.photobucket.com/albums/p...200xspring.jpg Thanks again for the help,
    Zach
