    200es electric start

Hopefully there isn't a thread already about this problem if there is I couldn't find it. I have a 200es that I bought with a bad battery so I put a new battery in it and it makes a rough grinding noise when I use the electric start and won't start. When I push the throttle to start it pretty much stalls out the starter completely. It starts great with the rope but not with the starter I did a bench test on the starter and it is working fine. I know it had really high compression when I tested it maybe that could have something to do with it. I tried to use the compression lever when starting and it turned over smoother but I didn't have a third hand to give it some gas. Wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to figure this out. I also checked the teeth on the starter gears and they are all fine. Thanks

that problem is most likely your starter solenoid. mine does that when i have a loose connection on the battery. fix your battery connections and youll be up right away.
