    Shocker ratings?

I'm looking to buy a good shock absorber for my suspension 70 project, but I'm not sure what the rating system is they seem to be using. They're rated in pounds - like 250lbs, 500lbs, 750lbs, 1000lbs, what's that refering to, the weight of the bike, rider or both? Any suggestions of good brands?

I would get a shock out of a KX80 or poss a 125, those are rated for a lot (300-400lbs) and have the Adjust-o-feature.
