June 12th - Three Wheeler Friendly Harescramble - Dornsife, PA

The Line Mountain 4 Wheelers (link) are hosting a harescramble June 12th in Dornsfife, PA. There are events going on there on the 13th as well but the harescramble will be on the 12th so that is the focus of this post. I haven't gotten specific times from the organizers for when tech inspection will begin and end on Friday and when it will resume on Saturday of even when we will be up to race on Saturday but one of the members here (jason85atc250r) has run in several of their events in the past and has been good enough to provide me with info on how it has been run in the past.

Friday Early Evening - Gates Open - Tech Inspection

7am Saturday - Tech Inspection Continues

9am'ish Saturday - ATV/Trike Classes begin their running

11am'ish Saturday - 4x4 Trucks and Buggies run for the rest of the day

Sunday - In the past they have had dirt drags and an obstacle course but you never know for sure.

Here's a quote from Jason in the thread that this all came up in:

you have to definitly be there by 7:00 saturday mourning to do the tech inspection and sign up. They have sign up and tech friday nite also.

Racing the 3 1/2 miler and coal bucket + 7 miler are always saturday. The quads start at 9:00 line mountian time (sometimes a little late). Trucks and buggeis start around 11:00.

we will have about a hour 1/2 to do our 3 laps for the 3 1/2 and the coal bucket is 4 laps in the same time. They are dead engine starts like district harescrambles and the scoring is by bar code stuck on left side of your helmet. You stop quick at the check points and you get zapped like groceries and tack off.

Sunday is just the drag racing sometimes they dont have that and the Short Obstacle course in the afternoon. It's a course at the end of the parking lot.
    Link To Original Thread

Here is some more info from the original thread from Jason:

You do not need registration i never had it on my quads i have only seen a couple of the utilty class quads with it. They want you to have a kill cord for tech inspection.

Also we can all camp at the track there is plenty of room and you can drink after the race just not during if your racing. Just dont be cuasing a big rucis or they mite kick you out just have to keep it to a mild rucis. You can get there Friday nite and camp till sunday for a $20 gate fee and can go as you please with wrist band. Regular gate fee is $10 a day.

For the races the 3 1/2 miler is only 3 laps, Coal bucket is 4 laps , 7 miler is 2 laps. You get a 1 1/2 hours to finish it usaully without problems takes you a hour or a little under.. You have time to do some repairs and still finish.
The three wheeler class is a definite. I have confirmed it with the VP of the club:

Good afternoon John we talked about having three wheelers race and we are all okay with it. Use will have your own class. So please tell all your friends and get a big group the more the better.

Thank you and see ya at the races.
    Vice president
    Denton Kosmer
I am going to send him an email asking if they have any sort of itinerary available so that we will know for sure when tech opens/closes and what not. Please feel free to copy and paste this wherever. Since they are making a specific class for us I don't want to disappoint them, when the next two races come up in July and September we'll make plans for them as well. If anyone has any questions please post them here and if we don't have the answer I'll try to get it from the club itself.

PLEASE TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO READ ALL THE RULES ON THE CLUB'S SITE. THERE IS CERTAIN CONDUCT THAT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED AND I'D HATE TO SEE ANYONE GET EJECTED FROM THE EVENT FOR SOMETHING DUMB. THEY ARE NOT ONLY GRACIOUSLY ALLOWING US TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT BUT THEY ARE MAKING A SPECIFIC CLASS FOR US WHICH I BELIEVE WILL INCLUDE POSSIBLE PRIZE MONEY AND TROPHIES SO LET'S PUT OUR BEST FOOT FORWARD.

    Thanks!

I am just about all ready to go. Got to replace header bolts on the 350x and rejet for the new cobra. Will start on that tonight after work. Wanted to say Thanks to John for contacting Line Mountain and getting this all set up for us to participate in this event. It should be a good one. Seems to be a lot of interest already.

I"ll be there with my 85 atc250r and my 250r/400ex contraption

YOU all will want to get kill chords thats one thing they check for. Your sscoring tag goes on the left side of your face shield on your helmet. It sticks on your helmet so just letting you know if you have issues with a stciker on your shiny helmet. LOL You'll get zapped like groceries when you stop at each check point.

The entry fee is $40 and that all goes back into the winnings. Top five get trophies and cash. You have to finish to get the winnings so if we all break down with are old contraptions we get nothing. LOL You have to get a Line mountian membership for $10 or so it's a card you have to show at each race when you sign up. YOu only pay that at the June event and it's good for the other 2 only pay once.

Here are my quad i raced there last year in 2 stroke class and my trike i'll be racing with you all. The last time i raced it there was 1998. They both needed washed before the pics as you can tell so they dont look that beat.

Got the proper 6 ply tires and beadlock wheels coming this week for my 350X. Doing a shakedown run with a bunch of 4x4 quad guys the weekend after next to see how it works. The only thing I'm wondering about is how it will run with the airbox lid on. I never ran it with the lid so I hope it doesn't blow my jetting totally out of the water. I want to run the lid for that water crossing that Jason is talking about.

I'll be going around the water crossing taking the wussy route. It's usually up to your fenders

The water issue is a big one for me. I will have to seal up my 85R good and rejet the thing.

    A couple questions:

Is the course rockier than Tower City?
Do you need a tether kill switch?

Just trying to figure out what I need to order to get ready.

The rules on the LM4W site say the tether is suggested but Jason says they are more of a requirement. You can go around the river crossing if you need to and depending on how high it is the day of the event I'll cross or go around. In order to win you gotta finish!

it's not really a river they just damned up this little tiny stream that trickles dowm the mountian. There also is alot of deep puddles on Interstate 80 (it's what they call this old logging road that really strait that we race on) you will see ways around them some are deep.

REX my quad has a ESR air box elimnator kit and it works okay i just avoid the deep puddles.

Chris D it is really rocky in some sections.

I'm ready. I've basically done what I can do avoid flats so the rest is up to me. Just be warned, I'm going to be in good shape, been hitting the gym at work for an hour every afternoon and cut way down on the beer consumption, only one beer since last weekend. New wheel and tire package is ready!

i'll be ready tire wise also. Went toget some beadlocks i won on ebay for $100 for my frinds raptor. Got a set of slitly used pair of ITP Holeshot GNCC's 20x10x9's for $40 on yamaha wheels. Mount them up on some gold factory 250r wheels and i'm set.

So anybody want a real nice set of 4x115mm factory Yamaha rims No dents.

Mite steel the beadlocks and RAZR 2s from "rex" they seem to be the most indestrustrable tire i have used. I have the one stock front honda wheel on "rex" smashed so bad from rocks at Line mountian that the tire went flat mid race. The front Razr2 still hold air just the rim is square and leaks over a couple hours.

I'll have extra tires if somebody is going to be there for a pit crew. they let you have pits by the start finish line so you can just pull over change a flat tire and keep going. so somebody needs to bring a buddy or 2 for our Nascar like pit crew.

We need to exchange phone number or something so we can figure out when everybody is showing up so we can camp and pit in the same spot. Also to find each other at the track when we arrive. I have off every friday work 4 10's so i can get there around 5 or 6 o'clock and try and save a spot.

Sounds good. We'll lock stuff in as the date gets closer and people confirm if they're 100% or not. I'm planning on bringing my Turfers as a back up set, its about all I have as far as woods tires, I have plenty of ice tires though.

i'll have some other tires people can use. JohnR you dont want to use your Turf Tamers out there i dont want to see you ruin them. Every time i seen a guy run them there they got a flat. .

I have extra I razr's and some Holeshot copy's. I've gotten about 20 pairs of wheels and tires from the guy for $20 each wheel and tire. He does not want to bother shipping them due to sizeand does not have much room at his storage unit. He ebay ATV's and dirt and street bikes so just wants them gone to get more space. You could fit 8 cars easy in there and it's packed full of the stuff he buys and parts on ebay that did not sell yet.

IF you have any freinds up there with Yamahe sport quads i have a bunch of rims for them front and rears. I just wanted the tires.

Thanks Jason. I was only planning on using them as a last resort and believe it or not I've been riding the woods with the same pair for close to 15 years and they have been great. You can ask ChrisD about how rocky it is around here. I think rocks are the official crop of Orange County. LOL!

My cousin has a Raptor and some of his friends also ride Yamahas so I'll mention it to him. I could use a set of 20" woods tires so if you have any you want to get rid of send me a PM with what you have and how much you want. Maybe you can bring something along for me to buy.
