ok, so i have a neighbor with either an 85 or an 86 ATC 250R i just know its a liquid cooled one. apparently he just rebuilt the motor and put new (probably aftermarket) plastic on it. it looks pretty good, and he wants a grand for it. am i correct to assume i could snag this and mabey make a buck on it if i wanted to? i just need some feedback.

if its in decent shape,and its really a liquid r. thats a pretty good price. I see them going for 1500-2500 quite a bit (depends on how nice it is)

its hard to say exactly how much you could make off of it, but it sure dont sound like a bad deal to me. you got anything he might take in trade to make the deal even sweeter?

Don't forget, allot of these "R"'s haven't ever had the bottom end opened up....... 1000$ is about the going rate for some pretty nice R's these days.
They can run fast as hell and sound good but have sloppy main bearings. Some peoples idea of a rebuild are a new topend and gaskets..... Get some receipts!
