86 200x confusion

hi I bought a 87 200x engine on ebay to replace my tired 86 200x engine my question is my kickstarter splines are smaller on the 86 and my kickstarter will not fit on my 87 engine does anybody know if this is correct.thanks mike

Yes this is correct....some late 86 models and the 1987 models had larger kick start shaft splines

ouch that could be a pain in the azz to find try contacting the selling that you got the engine from and see if he has a kicker for it..

Brand new kickers WERE available for 87$ at Service Honda - Yours ends in part #670 - The 86 ends in 000 and I can't recall if the preceding numbers are identical.

I'd have to look in my box of new kickers (no I won't sell them) and see whats up......

Even a Honda LC ATC 250R kicker fits your splines, it just doesn't rest the same way against the fender though. But it fits.....

I have a great used 250R kicker but I took it apart and PC'd it so I may as well keep it for me me me me me me

Your "old" 86 kicker is worth 50$ or more to some of these meatheads, err, I mean buyers...........
