    Big Problem

i just bought my 200 x and it needed a new rear sprocket, i checked the front one and when i pulled the cover plate off i saw that it was welded on. who ever did it welded it on crooked, i don't think the shaft is bent. should i just grind the weld off or will i hurt the shaft

If the sproket is welded on, the shaft is probably already ruined - which is why they welded the sprocket on in the first place.

Might as well grind it off ans see what you have to deal with.

You will need a sprocket,a shaft and a complete gasket kit....

Well....it's the countershaft in your tranny, so you have to remove engine, split cases, take all the gears out ,and THEN.... put everything back together. It will be a good chance to inspect everything anyway....and to clean the oil filter rotor. You really should have a manual for this.
