Title big deal yes or no?

Is it a big deal if your trike has a title? Whats the down side. Are they harder to sell?

In MN its not a big deal at all.... Heck, if your trike is 25 years old, you dont even have to register it to ride the state trails...

pa is easy to get a new one .. or so i read online.. im thinking about getting mine registered and titled down there.

The plus side is that if you are pulled over while hauling, riding your trike it will be traceable back to you via the serial number.
#2 it proves it is not stolen.
#3 it puts a higher resale value on the machine.
The negatives, can't readily be proven that you own it while out and about, automatically puts you in the "is it stole" category and not worth as much because it is untitled and questionable back ground.
It is so stinking simple to title trikes (or any thing else for that matter) and affordable at least in Michigan it is (11 dollars plus .06% sales tax on declared value).

I can't understand why you WOULDN'T want the title to your machine. Legal proof that it's rightfully yours. We have the same sort of thing in Canada but it's called an ownership, when the machine gets sold the ownership should get transferred to the buyer. I won't buy a machine that doesn't have an ownership with it or available The risk of possession of stolen property ends up with you owning nothing and a lighter wallet to boot.

It depends where you are. Around me if you can find a three wheeler that has a title I would be shocked, unless you get it from the original owner. Here it has no effect on resale, but where there is more theft there is more of a reason for having a title, and wanting to buy a machine with a title.

they just enacted a new law in arizona where you need a off road sticker. to get a sticker you need a plate so you need a title. Its about 100 bucks to title a trike here. SO, does that make my 20 dollar beater 185 worth titleing? I dont know. but the last 2 R's and big red I titled and it made it selling easier. jim

Here in CA one must register their toys like you would your vehicle. And in order to register it you need the title. I would not purchase a toy if they didn't have the title, who knows if it was stolen?

In Kentucky, just in the last month, they have done anyway with titles for any atv, including brand new ones. So even if you wanted one here, you can't get one.

i wish i could file for titles in ohio.
a guy i know knows a guy (lol) somehow went to the ohio dmv said ive had it since new, bought it from southwyck honda(bought out changed names) in 83, they inspected it, he went to title office and they printed him a title. i guess its all on how you word it. he got lucky. im only 26 so i dont think the "ive had it since new" will work for me

Montana's a nightmare. Have to register it to get a state land permit to ride. Have to apply for a lost title because it's so old. Then has to inspected by the sheriff. $89+$100+$100+permit, so far. I have 5 trikes. Just write me the tickets, it's cheaper and less of a headache and there is really no legal place to ride anyway, Montana's pretty much shut down unless you want to walk.
