    Headlight replacement on '86 250es

Hi everyone. So the headlight finally bit the dust on my '86 Big Red. The problem is that I've never had to replace a light on this trike before. Is it a sealed beam like in older vehicles, or is it just a bulb you remove from the back of the light housing? Would an auto parts store have a replacement? Thanks in advance.

Pop the bulb out and take it to your auto parts store... The base is the same as one of the major ones (h4 i believe) I know it matches up, and you can even buy a higher wattage bulb. Thats what I did on my 85 ES
No trikes. Too old, too crippled. Unless I find one I can't live without!

Killer: Oh Ha Ha, lol. Believe it or not, I have 3 other trikes and I have yet to replace a bulb except for the one that just went out on the Big Red. I always thought they were sealed beams since I've never had to take a light housing apart.

Thrope: Do you happen to remember the part number for the higher wattage bulb you used in your BR? The extra heat from the higher wattage never threatened to melt your housing?

Oh Thrope, one last thing since you seem pretty knowledgeable about the Big Reds. I have been considering piping mine lately with a Cobra head pipe and muffler I seem to find easily and affordably on ebay. Would I see any gain from that? I'm assuming I'd have to re-jet my carburetor also after the install or maybe richen the mixture up a bit if I choose to go with the pipe.
