    How to start 110 ATC

I apologize for this dumb question but I've never started the engine on the thing before since I bought non-running (sat for about 5 years). I finally got to start to tinker with it -- got a new carb kit (question on a different thread), change the oil and plug.

So what are the steps before yanking on the cord? Thank you.

    Turn the headlight on.
No trikes. Too old, too crippled. Unless I find one I can't live without!

Thank you. I was just want to make sure I did not miss anything.

What about the pic below? What position should this thing be in during start up?

if ya can read the markings there will be a on/and res. i think there up or down and then the off should be side ways.

put it on on, res. will work too so up or down should get ya gas.

You should have it turned to the on side of the valve. The reserve side is if you run out of gas on the on side.

    i also own a 1984 atc110
you DO NOT need the light on for it to run
the petcock's off position is sideways or horizontal, the tab pointing up or down will get you gas, though im not quite sure which way is reserve.
best way to start it is slide the choke all the way on, give it a little gas and pull it, once started continue giving it gas to keep it from stalling and just barley crack the choke open, then you should be able to let off the gas and have it idle. when its warm outside you should be able to start it by starting with the choke cracked open and you wont need to give it gas. after a 1 min idle turn the choke off and your ready to rip.
if you find that sweet spot in the choke you should never have to give it gas to start.

If it hasn't been started in 5 years, put some penetrating oil, a few drops of reg motor oil, or something of your choosing in the cylinder, just a little bit, then pull the engine over a few times with the spark plug still removed so the rings get some oil on them before you fire it up.
