What is it about these trikes?

Something about these darn trikes. A few months ago I picked up a 185 from a guy. He needed some rims for his kids quad, I had a pair of wheels that I bought for the tires. So I had 20 bucks into them. The trike was sitting on 3 flats, the seat cover is gone, but all the plastics are there. The carb was gummed, but it did feel like it had compression. I was told it sat for 8 years. Tonight I got the stator from dratv and installed it. Cleaned the carb and filled it with gas, installed a new plug and it fires right up! No smoke, no funny noises! I picked up a pair or like new tires at a yard sale for 25 bucks, Sold the wheels (yamaha 4 on 100 bolt pattern for 15 bucks). I was over buying parts for a 200x project and the guy had a front fork with the shocks, front wheel/tire and handlebars and harness for 10 bucks. So the trike is now a rolling, running 185.
    Price breakdown so far.
    185 project traded 2 rims ......$20
    front end with tire/wheel .......$10
    Stator Dratv..........................$20
Rear tires (I mounted myself) $10
    sparkplug..............................$3
    Total ..................................$63
Now that I know how it runs, I can spring for a seat cover and still not be upside down in it!
Last weekend. I bought another 185S. Owner had it sitting on 3 flats and hadnt run in years. Carb was glued together with varnish.
    185S price. ..................$125
    2 200X wheels/tires........$20
    2 200X hubs. .................$10
    1 front tires. (craigslist) $10
    total. $165.
This one even has a nice seat and rack on back!

When I go to sell them, on a 185 or 200, I usually sell them for $200 running, I see them advertised on craigslist for 400-600 bucks, but I dont think they ever sell at that price. jim

Nothing like wheeling and dealing! Not intended to brag, just amazed at what a little bit of knowhow (thanks to the folks here) and a little bit of sweat equity into these so called pieces of junk and you end up with a running trike for little to nothing. jim
