What year is this R, is it worth $200 with extras? (Really, really rough)

I found this that a guy doesn't seem to want much, he bought and never got to it, said it did not run.
I have an extra good bottom end, and two cylinders/heads without pistons.

I was told it's rough, not running. Not even sure of all the parts that are included. Front end is either swapped or it's an 83 or 84, right?

I kind of want to buy it for spare parts, maybe make a cheap beater and still have extras. Two two front hubs, aren't those worth $40 or so each? And if the tire is good on the spare front end, that whole set up (if straight) must be worth $50-$100, or I could put in on my 82 R for a skinner front tire. I'd like to have a second running 2 stroke to play with my atCR480.

May offer $150 or so. Is it worth that, or even the full $200?

    Thanks

PS: I know it seems like there's a lot of these appraisal threads, but with all these extras, you can bet tons of stuff will be sold to members on here that need them

Looks like 83, or 84 If you ended up paying the full 200, not a bad deal,..lots of spare parts!

Worst case scenario... Part it and make money....
No trikes. Too old, too crippled. Unless I find one I can't live without!

That's what I thought. Chances are, I can get one running for a spare/loaner beater trike. I have a good bottom end and top end less a piston. Other than that, looks like there's spare wiring too, and everything. Maybe fork seals/some bearings need replaced, but it will be complete.

Not really a Honda guy...but I'd say she's worth saving....Now realize this could turn into a $3000 resto before you kick it over if you go for like NEW R. Could you buy a Liquid 86'R for 3g's?....you bet and unload it and go ride. Now remember built right that air-cooler could outrun a later model R in a drag race.

How? I am putting a CR480 in my other R. Just need a skinnier front tire/forks, and new plastics and the adapter kit to fit it in the frame.

Oh no, didn't mean to be insulting....new to ATC's and always see Liquid R's as the top dog and the air 'foolers' almost looked down upon as a mere 'stepping stone' to the liquid ones. I had an air cooled so I decided to put a 480 in it to beat a liquid R just haven't finished yet. But I didn't know a stock air cooled R could be made to beat a liquid. (That's what I meant by how)

Update - talked to the owner, motor doesn't turn over. Maybe something simple, but I have a good engine for it. Seems like he will take less, just wants it to go to someone who can use it.

you could build a rat trike if you have the parts for cheap, one to ride on the muddy trails and such. i only have 1000 into my mint powdercoated 250sx so it can be done if your not rushing to get it built i spent 6 months on the sx.

I will use the spare front end on my 82 (has fat tire on it now), put my good 82 bottom end into it unless that one is good, and get a piston kit for it. Then have a running one.

$150 sounds like a hell of a deal, even if it looks bad. I figure, I can get new Maier fenders for $300 or less front and rear, so I can always make it semi-presentable for under $1000 at a later date. But for a beater, $200 seems fine
