just wondering if there is any difference in the two frames between 1985 and 86 250r. i have an 86 that there is a lot of little things bad on it and thinking about just re doing a good 85 frame i have.

I do vinyl cutting on the side...lettering, decals, and window stickers or whatever you may want to put them on....ill cut anything dont be affriad to ask

The rake is different. The 85 was raked back more than the 86.
The front motor mounts have to be used for the year of frame you use. The tailight had a bolt on bracket for the 86, and the 85 had pegs welded to the frame for the taillight.
The rest of the differences were not really performance related, and all other parts will swap over.

on the 85 frame the shock resi is part of the frame and on the 86 it bolts to the frame thats the only other thing that comes to mind other then what mosh already posted.

86 frames had an extra gusset plate added that wraps around and under the steering stem. There are LOTS of small evolutionary changes made to them. When we built my buddies 86 344R a few years back, we spent lots of time comparing them side by side, and were amazed at the seemingly small, yet apparently worthwhile changes between the two......Not saying one is any better than the other though.
