'86 250r

Found a 86 250R started going through it and noticed the clutch rod that the cable hooks to (clutch lever rod or something forgot) just goes forwards and backwards easily and the spring is missing is it hard to install a new spring or better yet find one? And it feels as if it doesnt disengage the clutch i can shift into gear and moving the arm seems to absolutely nothing (like it isnt actually touching anything period) you could just practicly slap it around like it was a hanging necklace or something any ideas?

Lol by the way anyone need any trx 400 or something i think that was the rear fenders and the seat that was on it when i got it

Now I have to find rear fender front fender and seat for it have shrouds yay me

Yes I did was worth it the frame and swingarm arm are in pretty good shape but someone thought it wise to paint the motor with no high temp paint black, the motor has good comp but still have to figure clutch issue have motor out of frame now gonna bead blast it? Or anyone know another easier way to get this crummy paint off? The finish underneath it looks pretty good cant figure why they would do something like this? Some of the things pple do just amazes me sometimes.

my 86 motor did the same thing, the rod actually pulled up, you have to remove the clutch and something else inorder to release the part that the rod pushes on so it can slide back into place, dont know if that makes any sense to you, but on mine i was able to pull the linkage rod all the way out.

My rod goes up and down just not all of the way, and when you move the rod you can feel it kind of make a small clank noise on the clutch basket as if something isnt engaging or moving.

First find out what you need and inspect, Than Place the order.

Don't forget, tune up parts Plug's & Air Filter

OK tore it apart and clutch and basket and all look brand new as if just changed, if I post pics would that help out any?

Yeah post some pics.
It sounds like someone did some clutch work and forgot to put the ball bearing in the pushrod assembly on the pressure plate side of the clucth.
Go to www.servicehonda.com and input your model and year,and look at the clutch parts schematic and see if any of the parts are missing.
Also pay special attention to the small bearing in the case where the push lever goes in. There should be needle bearings in there, and in good free shape.
There could be a chunk of metal or dirt in the case under that arm, stopping it from dropping in all the way too.

Its all in there i think they had the cap on the outside lip of the clutch and if i remember right it goes to the inside of it right?

I really need the spring for the actuator arm or a whole arm with the spring, guess imma have to go looking through flea bay for one.

Part number 10 goes on the back side of the outside pressure plate part # 8. Make sure that ball bearing is sitting in part number 10 also.

As far as the clutch arm and spring, those may still be available new from OEM or that website I posted or service honda, or your dealer...They may be discontinued too.

If so, stay patient..Someone will have the stuff you need.
Also EBAY would be good for getting it now if you can find one..And keep in mind, the 86-89 R engine all used the same parts for the clutch arm and spring.

Check with "Cycleguy1979" on ebay...
He is in Arizona and is always parting out really nice R stuff. He may have what you need.

K thanks and yeah I noticed the difference in the arms from the earlier R's to the later model R's the ends of the arms that ride on the rod are different correct? Noticed mine is missing a clip that sits by the little cap and the rod? Hmm more investigation needed i assume?
