Need help figuring out clutch on 1998 KX60

I just got a 1998 KX60 in a trade for some work I did. Starts right up but when you pull the clutch in it doesn't disengage it. The cable is adjusted all the way out. Do I just need to replace the clutch disks or do I need a clutch basket.

ANy help you could give would be great. I never had this problem before.

Sounds like your clutch basket is grooved. Typically the outer basket will develop grooves from the clutch plates sitting in it (after years of use.) If the fibers are still in good shape, you can rough the steels up with some sandpaper to take the glaze off. The grooves on the "fingers" of the outer basket can sometimes be sanded down, so to take the sharp edges off. This can only be done a little bit, as you can't take much material off. If it looks like it's shot, then it will need to be replaced.
Before you buy anything, see if your clutch push rod is bent, and if the clutch is even trying to disengage.
    Hope this helps

I was planning on taking it apart tonight.. I also read the wrong weight oil could be in the trans. Either way I think I can get it up and going within a week or 2. Now sure if my son is going to ride or not because he doesn't like beingon 2 wheels.. So it may be sold or turned into a trike once I know it is running. Its starts on one kick and sounds really good. I wish it could hold me lol

Have you also tried leaving the bike in gear and trying to push it to make sure the clutches aren't stuck to each other. It happens sometimes when they aren't ridden much.

Clutch wouldn't disengage so I pulled it apart. Looks like the plates were sticking. It has marks on the disks were they were sticking. I am going to clean them up tomorrow and put them back together with some ATF type f trans fluid and see how it works for now. They may have put too thick of oil in the case as well since all of the fluids look like new.

Put it back together and clutch works... Shifter is a little stiff now so something must be off. Will take it apart tonight. The bike has no bottom end power with 200 lbs on it.. But when it his the power band it takes off real quick.
