Well Crap! she done blew up :(

well got the rear axle bearing in my deathrocket.. slowed down to stop and open a gate and she done died.. tried to kick her over and welll... no compression damn! well i wanted to rip her apart to rebuild her anyhow so oh well. but it was running fine with no weird noises all the power it always had. was running caster 927 at a 32:1 ratio. there were no warning signs of running lean or anything. ran great up until it died at the gate.. what the hell happened!?

well thats my duh for the day. yeah its a 81 250r all stock (that I know of) with exception of a larger mikunki carb. so does that help anyone.. I know I'm posting a bit early as I haven't torn the motor down yet. but I would like to know if i should look for anything other then the obvious of vacuum leaks, scuffed piston, and broken rings, and any other busted up doodads. any insight?

Check for a leaky head gasket, intake, base gaske etc. That is where I would start.

put a little oil in the cylinder and check the compression again, if it goes up it probably at least needs rings.

Head gasket could be the cause too, good thing to check.

you gotta love 2 strokes running one minute then bang no compression, but hey they are so easy to work on you gotta take the good with the bad

I haven't seen may properly built/jetted LC 250R's do that but an air cooled version is allot more finicky IMHO. You had better have your clearances SPOT ON and your jetting pretty close too; Especially in hot humid weather.....

If it ran well for a long time, I wonder if you lost a main or big end bearing??

Regardless, it's gonna be a fun time figuring it out. I've even seen air filters fall off and create a lean condition or an intake boot deteriorate...............

    Any more info??

dude two stroke don't just blow up for no reason, 95% of the time it is user error. And 4 strokes go boom as well.
