    250sx vs 200x

can you guy,s tell me what the 250sx don,t have that the 200x does have is there any major differences between the two in terms of hill climbing, trail rideing, swamp rideing, would i gain anything by getting a 200x, or can the 250sx do everything the 200x can...?

The X is a lot easier to throw around. It's lighter and sportier. The X has much better suspension and brakes. You can change your final drive ratio with the X, but not the SX. I don't have enough recent experience with either to comment on how each performs in mud and on the hills and stuff. If I could only have one, I'd take the SX.

Main differences are 200x has a manual clutch and chain drive while the 250sx is auto clutch and shaft drive. I prefer to work a clutch but to each their own.

if I could only have 1 I would choose the sx unless the 200x was a second gen and I wanted to ride faster then I would choose that. Its really personal preference and what kind of riding you do. No bike does everything better

If I has to choose only one of the two... I would take a SX... I couldnt live without a hitch...
No trikes. Too old, too crippled. Unless I find one I can't live without!

200x is easier to work on and light weight compared to the sx. (I think). I grew up with a 200x..so i favor them. My next door neighbor had sx and just beat the heck out of it. Never maintained a thing but put gas in it. It was very reliable like a 200x.

the sx could go in some serious mud and sometimes it would make it and other times he'd get stuck but impressive.

I am a big fan of the 250sx. They are just mean. Full of power, and can go about anywhere. It is a heavier trike though, and the suspension is not as forgiving.

I have an '85 200x and my buddy has an '85 250sx. The 200x has a manual clutch; the 250sx has auto clutch and reverse (a plus!). With the 200x you can change gear ratios; the 250sx has a shaft drive. The 200x has disc brakes; the 250sx has drums all around.

I like the 200x, 1) because it is lighter and more sporty. 2) Easier to modify. I like the 250sx for its reverse gear. It is heavier though.

Everything I'd have said has been said. X for speed or playing around (walking on one rear tire/wheelies) but I'd take the SX. I just got on my 250es, and since the SX is similar, I can just imagine how beastly it is.

    My 87 200X will smoke a 250SX thumper. I'll give most 350Xs' a hell of a run with my 200X

EDIT -m Give me time, it will only get FASTER.

If anyone reads this, I need 86/87 200X cranks, the primary drive side nut is LH threads - must be PERFECT!!. THANK YOU SO MUCH to the people that THOUGHT they knew how to loosen a NUT without a book. I guess the fact that it was getting tighter wouldn't have gave it away. What the hell do I know anyhow.............

That is a tough call. I would say the 200x because of the weight advantage. Others here might say the extra 250cc's might make a difference. I will drag race both and let you know.
