my 86 350x project "updated"

around a month ago i picked up 1986 honda 350x off a guy for $400.runs really good but needs a bit of work.brakes front and rear are pretty beat so picked up a nice front brake set up off ebay.also came with a nice rotor to replace the one on it.got an oem master cylinder and guts from bike bandit along with the rubber parts for the master.front shocks were weak so picked up new seals and fork boots.clutch lever and perch were sloppy so i picked up the matching set up from my front brake assembly from ebay.front tire was pretty worn so i picked up a new swamp fox for it.i ride in mud and rough stuff so i figure i should get tires able to handle. it hope they are a good tire.plan on getting all black plastic and tank for it and a red and black seat cover.but this is what she looks like right now. http://http://

are you gonna be selling that front fender when you get other plastics??? if u r im interested

is the gas tank on that the original metal one? if so is it good shape? does it leak? i would be interested in buying it if you sell it. i have an extra white front fender also.

its is a metal tank it has one pinhole leak i thing about half way up the tank below the gas cap .it is dented up a bit but i'm sure its worth fixin up.will probly end up selling it . would like to know if anyone on here has a plastic tank on thier 350x and if they are happy with how it looks and works.clarke makes a black one which is what i planned on getting to go with the black maier plastics.

well the master switch i just found out wont shut the bike off and it looks like its off a 200s or 185.so i just picked up a nice master that came off a 350x last night.at first i was going to keep track of how much i spent on this fix up but now i am not so sure.

i have a clarke gas tank and its great. the only thing i hate is that i cant put the honda wing decals on the sides of it

yeah i was reading that the gas vapors make them buble and fall off.how long does it take for them to start to bubble ?.

no the story behind pickin this up was pretty cool.i am a bill poster and post billboards for a living .2 months ago i was posting a board in a farmers field and had to wait for the cows to cross the dirt road before i could continue into the field.so one of the guys that work on the farm came over to chat for a sec.i remember a 3 wheeler in one of the barn before but couldnt tell what it was so i asked him about it.guy told me it was the farmers son's and he would probly sell it at a good price cause he needed money.he said he thinks its a yamaha 200.he gave me the guys # and i called and asked him what it was.he told me its a yamaha 85 tri-z which from what i read is an 85 1/2 if its black and red.he said 3 of his friends said they would give him $500 for it and none came up with any kinda money.without sayin a word about the price he says if you come take it today $250.knew nothing about them but from how he described the condition i knew it was a steal so i got it.and what a deal.http:// well as you can see a pretty nice machine for the money and runs like a top.well to the 350x part i went to the store where my GF manages and showed her the tri-z i just got.about 30 sec later a guy drives up and says is that a tri-z i used to have one they are awsome.after about a min he said he had a 350x,225dx,and 82 200m he wanted to sell.went and looked at them and for $525 i got all of them.225 and 200m are pretty beat but the x was worth that alone i think.

just got done ordering a retro red with gold wing honda t-shirt an oil seal for the rear break lever and spring for the kick start lever from bikebandit.

now i have ordered the rear grab bar and brand new rear brake caliper.

looks like my axle lock nut needs to be replaced wondering whats my best route as far as an aftermarket lock nut .have seen a few different ones on ebay dont really know how good one is over the other so i will take your words for it.or is the stock nut just as good as anything else hope you guys can make up my mind .
