I will buy a couple 250R ones from you.
I think I know exactly what you mean now. Both the intake tubing on the side and where the air filter attach are both on unsupported plastic.... If it's the same diameter the whole length (maybe 2"s or something) then I could make a similar stop for the air filter side and the rest would support that whole area. And if I recall it is round and not ovalled. I cheated and looked on EBAY Mike is due for a visit soon anyhow, he may even have a spare airbox......

Dirtcrasher all you have to make is 2 of them and slide one on each end the air box for a 85-86 250r. They did this for the trx250r in the 90's just sold them in pairs. I bought 2 sets one for my ATC and the trx ones were slitly to small

Too bad I can't make one long sleeve with a shoulder on one end to support both ends...... I can cut them different diameters. but I have to look at one 1st.

DEEPA hasn't called me back and he can't post for a couple weeks so I'll have to wait on the 250R's unless someone shrinkwraps and sends me a box..............

I made some more of the other rings today, thank you for the guys that bought a couple today; I need more material ordered tommorow but I want the 250R size before I order it.....

Can someone tell me what the rough size of the [plastic opening is? I have to lathe it down anyhow so that may get me rolling, maybe both sides are different or I could make one long sleeve to support both sides, that would be great!........

Yeah DC I was thinking one solid sleeve for the R set-up, if the openings are the same size..
    They are completely round openings.
If no one does before hand,
When I get home tonight, I will Mic the openings for the R airbox for you,and get some pics up if that helps you.

I definately will take 2 of these for the R.
    Thanks.

Dirtcrasher, there is also a free open source program that is the equivilant of Adobe Photoshop called Gimp. It was originally developed for Linux but there is a Windows version that is available. Good luck!

    Ok DC..The 85-86 R airbox
The opening is the same diameter through out..
I measured both sides internally and my readings vary from 3.840" to 3.855".. The plastic flexes if I put pressure on the thumbwheel of the calipers. I use a standard oldschool mechanical caliper.
So that is the diameter of the material you will need. So I am guessing you will need 4 inch, then turn it down .150". But you are the expert in this type of area. And it definately looks like you can do one solid sleeve.
The length of the sleeve over all will be 1-7/16ths. That is the length from lip to lip of the airbox opening.I took close up pics, but you wont see the numbers on the caliper..Let me know if you need them posted. I can test the first one for you if needed.

    EDIT!!!!! Added measurement.

Thanks very much!! I'd love to see the pics when you get some time...... An yone who wants to measure their own and post the results will help get things rolling...

I do put a little pressure on the wheel to get the ID. BUT, I am finding them to all range within about .010. Maybe that tolerance wasn't so important to Honda? I can't see how it could wear out.

They,ll use more aluminum and time so I'll try and do 30-35$ shipped on those.... All depends on the extra time and cost of the aluminim, I think everyone wants the lighter alloy!

DEEPA is on his way right now with the 250R airbox, so I'll take an average from his and Moshs' (Any other R owners with calipers??)

I'd rather have them be a a hair big and a hair dryer or heat gun could be used. I just want them to be functional and for you guys to make them.

Please don't back out, guys , I'll order that aluminum today but it'a about 1" larger for the R. I'm sure I could sell a dozen so that may be all that I order for alloy.

I'll take a 350x one, If you could PM me a price. There is too much going on for me to read this right now, I'm swamped at work, but have wanted to say, HEY, i need one of those!!

but just an FYI when you pay as a gift, they take the difference out of your bank account. The fee gets charged to you instead of the seller.
