    300EX advice

So I've been talking to Jensen about this and I have a chance to get a 2003 300EX in good condition for $1,100 but have never ridden one, I don't want to spend a lot as my 350X is my main ATV to use but want a quad as well and for the price this seems really good. Has anyone ridden one of these? Are the fun or fast? I weigh 200lbs and am 6ft tall if that matters.
    Thanks

Yeah they are lots of fun. Smaller size with decent power. They go about 55 or so. Tons of parts available since they haven't changed much since they were new in 93.

Here's the 2001 I used to have until I upgraded to my KFX 400

they are great quads, i actually got the chance to take one to silver lake sand dunes in Michigan. road it all day till she actually blew up, it was way over due for a rebuild. that said it being on its last leg it still made it up some of the biggest dunes with stock tires and had the power to have plenty of fun. i could only imagine one with a healthy engine.
it probably isnt much slower than your 350x and probably faster than your 200x just to put it in perspective.
    its a great quad

Ok thanks for the info, I have re-set my sights on a 400EX, I don't want to sell my 350x so I won't get a 450R and they can have a lot of problems.

    i had a 400ex
    stage 2 hotcam
    11:1 numera piston
    full bill's pipe
pulled the choke valve out the carb to open it up more and removed airbox lid
    jetted perfect
    maxxis razrs
with all of that is was very fast
raced with raptors, mild/stock 450s, 250Rs, and mild banshees all day.
nothing could beat it out of the hole and only after 400 feet would they go pass if they could at all.
i LOVED it but had to sell it for a car.

my complaint is its high speed stability and overall stability was HORRIBLE. we had everything to spec but it just liked to wander both directions, the steering is very touchy is what im saying.

the 400ex will be a much more competant ride and i bet you could find one for around 2,000. they never really got any upgrades except for new plastics around 2006 i think. also their xr400 motors are tanks they will run forever as long as you give them some routine matinence.

    Either or...
I'm 5-10 and 250 and I leave my 250R at home to have fun on my 300ex.
The 400's are a fine machine too. FYI: a 416 is the most dependable once built.
