I think a 1k is too much, if you shop around you can get a 350X for that price. Plus it's not liquid R. I would say 8 bills tops. looks a little roughed up too.

I never bargain on the phone or email. I just go to the place where the item is at and bargain from there. Sellers are much more apt to bargain in person.

Look it over, point out all the defects and abuse, then offer him 700 and go from there.

Cash talks. Go there and pull out the 7 fresh hundreds while you offer it, I like to wave them around a bit. People are more likely to take it when they see the money. Also get some twentys for the middle, it looks like a fat stack of cash with hundreds on the outside. 800 over the phone sounds low, but when someone is in your driveway with $800 holding it in front of you it is a much better offer.

But truthfully if it is in real good mechanical shape, I wouldn't feel bad paying $1000 for it, it is summer now, prices are up.

Yep, cash talks louder than you do. I always grab a couple hundreds and a bunch of twenties to throw together for big deals like that. Makes it seem like there's a lot more cash in there....

1200 is WAY too much for a ... There is a nice one for sale by me for 600...

waving cash works for some folks, but when I sell stuff and I dont care weather it sells or not. I put firm in the price. I had a guy drive from Yuma to Tucson to buy my big red. I told him the pilot jet needed cleaning, but it ran fine with the choke on slightly. I titled it, put a new battery, front tire, air filter on it. Priced it at $500 firm, which I reaffirmed before he left. I think he drove 4 1/2 hours only to start with the "carb needs rebuild" Paints not perfect, etc. then offered $400, $450. I told him I had $450 into the trike, not including taking a chance on buying a non running trike and getting it running, spending half a day at the DMV getting a bonded title. In the end he didnt buy it and drove home with a empty truck. (plus had to rent a motel room on the way home because it was so late). I think after the offers, I may not have sold it for the $500 because of the haggling. I did end up trading it for a real nice CZ75B with 2 mags, 100 rounds of hollow points, holster and original box! jim

Firm never means firm all the time.

Just today I saw something in CL (a slot car set) that was advertised as "$75: Firm"

Went there and got it for 65. Quite often a buyer just wants to "win" a little bit even if its only 5 dollars. I know that I once bought something recently that was worth quite a bit more than the asking price. It was selling on CL for 25 and was easily worth 150. I went there and dickered and got the item for 20. I just wanted to "win" even though I knew that 25 was extremely way beyond fair.

If a seller is a stonewall, it just depends how badly I want XYZ. If I really want XYZ and the price still is fair, i will relent but if there are tons out there and the price is just average, then I walk.
