    Short track kit questions

What exactly does a complete kit contain? What are the benefits? Whats the tank capacity? Would his be a practical set up for a ATC500? Would one piece be more useful for the 500? I plan to run open dirt roads and pits, Fule capacity will not be an issue.

Thats it, I thought the set up was lighter due to a smaller tank. Thanks for the info, I couldnt find alot.

    The full kit is:

Different bottom triple clamp that allows more steering lock
    specific radiator brackets
    specific radiator hoses
smaller gas tank (Its also narrower, which is the main thing I like about it)
    different air scoops.

So it must be lighter and tighter turning. Do I need a complete kit or will one part function without the others? Such as a tank with stock shrouds, etc. I assume the bottom triple needs the relocated radiators though.

The tank is the key part, and now with DC Plastics reproducing the shrouds, the tank is the only hard to get(necessary) part. The stock shrouds aren't even close to fitting the short track tank.

The ST tank is 1.5-gallons, so it's about 1.1 gallons smaller than the stocker.
The radiators can be moved rearward with homemade brackets, and the steering stops on the bottom triple clamp can be(carefully) ground to give the sharper turning radius mentioned above.

However, the sharper turning radius was not the main purpose for the kit as far as simply turning in a smaller circle. It's designed for fast cornering/high speed sliding so that you can turn the front tire further toward the slide and not have the rear wheels pass the front wheel as easily.

On low speed trails/etc.... it will take a bit of getting used to because you can turn sharp enough to pick up the inside wheel much easier than with the stock setup.

The last ST tank I installed back in '03 didn't have to use different radiator hoses. It seems like I remember turning one around or trimming a bit off of one, though.....hard to remember exactly. As soon as I put together some money for shrouds and paying another member here what I owe him, I'm going to install the ST tank I have on the shelf.

I have both a complete kit and a "home made" kit using just the tank and shrouds. Its easy to make the tank and shrouds fit. I reused the hoses, stock triples, etc on mine.
