it is easier because you can take a part off and put it on the new frame. It saves you from having to completely disassemble, refurbish, reassemble. But if you have looked and can't get a frame then i guess its not a option

yes, CT used to sell a removable sub-frame for a atc250r, they also sold a front hub, some kind of swingarm and more. I have everything they sold for a 85/86 atc in a mag somewhere. Maybe you got one of those very very rare things. I called CT about those parts in 04 and they said they haven't heard anything about about those parts or knew they made them and asked the old timers. One of them got on the phone w/ me and said that today was the first time in ~15 years that someone asked about those parts. If there is enough demand, they still have the jigs for everything they sold for it. I have an atc250r w/ removable sub-frame. Also I am going to have a atc250r-like w/ a flip-top seat. Both are custom frames, both made by HRE ATV

I can't tell if this is one of those aftermarket subframes or not, it looks legit up close contrary to what some people have said on here

I would investigate a little more before I just welded it up. Maybe it's a rare piece...maybe not, but I would want to know for sure before I hit with a welder. Maybe a few of our older ( and wiser....lol ) members can weigh in on this.

It reminds me of how the prisoners on death row have fun waiting for their turn on the electric chair. Fair enough, the trike isn't an electric chair, but it is about as safe and comfortable as one."

after seeing the pics, that is just a welded back subframe that bent, broke or was removed/modified for some reason. here is what a professional removable subframe looks like http://www.pictureposter.allbrand.nu...+side.JPG.html, the picture maybe too small for some to view good.
