    OK I WANT TO THANK YOU ALL THAT HAVE POSTED ON MY QUESTIOMS
    your help has been very great .

    One question more well for now,
    when i ride the 250R it seems to bog in 1st 2nd and 3rd now i talk to the guy i got it from and he said all that is is the bike is loading up when i hit 4th the wheel comes off the ground and it rockets off like it should and after that it rides great in every gear so my question is this common what does LOADING mean and why does it do it or is there a problem??

    Does it idle alright? Maybe it has a pilot jet that is too big or the idle mixture screw setting is off. If you have a manual check the jets out and make sure all the settings on the carb are set to factory specs.

    carb ajustments...........there is no "loading" it should just rip up and go as soon as u hit the gas in 1 and 2

    reeds?

    Does the trike have the stock reeds? I had a similar problem with the 84 250R i bought a couple weeks ago. I put a set of Boyesen Pro Series reeds in it and it cleared the problem up almost instantly. Just needs a minor carb adjustment now.

    To answer your question "loading up" is when it is not completly burning all the fuel. Things to check are: plug, carb adjustment, reeds, timing, ignition, compression.

    thank you all again well sound like yhis is a job for the dealer since i have no clue how to do any of that stuff and my manual wont be hee for a week just ordered it yesterday

    The dealer is gonna rob you if you go in there and ask that question. It could be many things but if you go to the dealer, they will rake you over the coals. That thing should rip in 1st and 2nd. Try different carb settings before you ask the dealer.

    If you need some help with factory settings, a couple of the guys on here probably have them for you. Check the pulg and try to determine if it rich or lean. Don't let a dealer steal all your money.

    i have all the factory settings for everything on the 83/84 250R, i got 3 different manuals for it, just let me know what you need, and i can post all the info and specs

    Probably the greatest factor in a 2 stroke "loading up" is riding techinque. Ive seen a lot of guys looking for carburetion answers to a riding problem, and two strokes need to be ridden differently than 4 strokes, in a manner that keeps them "cleaned out". That doesnt mean balls to the wall all the time, it simply means very frequently getting and keeping your RPM's up, and winding it out before you shift. 2 stroke newbies tend to putt around at low rpms, shift too soon, and gear too high. High RPMs does not mean fast. It means operating in the upper half of the power band. I have no idea what your two stroke experience is, but if the prior owner is telling you its loading up on you, and it was okay for him, Id suspect its a matter of learning to keep a 2 stroke cleaned out.

    you are most likely right when i saw him ride it when i first went and looked at it it was a rocket in 1st and 2nd so i may need to try and get the rpms higher i havent had a 2 stroke since i was 14 i'm 32 now so it has been a while i'm used to riding my 225-dx witch you know is 4 stroke
    i will get used to this one soon but i feel like a beginer on this thing i haven't been on anythinmg this fast in a long time

    What year is your 250r? My 86 will pull the front end off the ground in 1-4 if I let it. It's a stock machine so yours should be capable of similar performance. If you are new to 2-strokes you might just need to practice riding it some. I would also suggest checking your spark plug to make sure it's the right one and also check carb adjustments. You didn't say where you bought it from, but if it was from a different part of the country the altitude difference could require different adjustment or even new jets. Also if you are using the factory recommended 20:1 oil to gas ratio that could be helping it load up on you. Try 32:1.

    well i live in minnesota and thats where the guy lived aswell and right now i'm running it at 32:1 oil\gas new spark plugs in it from honda so what do i need to do tothe carb i'm not sure how to mess with it my manual wont be here for another week

    Does it idle ok? I can tell you how to adjust your idle air screw (on the bottom of carb next to the fuel bowl) but, if you can't get it to idle properly you might also need to clean the carb first.

    no it idle's great no problem there at all, just when i hit half to full throttle in 1-3 gear it is boggy when i hit 4th it is like it should be smoth and fast
