but they are unaware of the characteristics of a typical dune, its like a wave, with a smooth round side and a sharp wall side, sometime when your on the smooth side you cant see the razor or sharp wall side, plus mix in the fact that you were probably going at a good clip in 4th gear...THEN, maybe the newbs can understand why you almost bailed
Been on a cruise and trying to catch up. Here's looking over the sharp wall side looks like...Click image for larger version.

that is a good 16 feet from where i was standing taking that picture ,, its just hard to explain , but the surface where the bikes are is not flat either its more "v" shaped the dune on the back side is within a few degrees of vertical . it was a WILD ride over it . its like when you go over a big rollercoaster and you get weightless.. you have no brakes, no steering and most of all no time to react.. that is why you NEVER crest an unknown dune perpendicular EVER .. it will bite you very quick!!!

it was wicked mr kasey i can tell you if you wernt there it was hard to belive. rapid rick got the worst by far he had not time and no warning. jason hall still not much time but a little warning mr kasey had a little time and a little warning but still i cant belive no one got bad hurt and i seen it all with my own eyes. these dunes even trick a ''pro'' once in a while you have to keep your witts about you the whole time. i am pumped about this ride once again.

Maybe we should make a local ride sometime in the summer, like a day trip thing? For those of us who can't afford to take a long time off. Just a thought...
