    My 185s, x, r....

I recently accquired a 185s that was left for dead. I had been wanting a putt-around bike that was easy to ride, with no clutch, so I could drink cool beer and follow the kiddies down the trails. With some spare 200x and 250R parts, I ended up with a pretty cool little machine that was really a simple build.

    * 1981 185s frame, engine and rear end: 200x front end, rims, disk brake and rear axle extentions: 250R fender & headlight assembly.

I would not call it a Frankentrike. People swap front ends and parts around all the time. Just typically not to 185s and what not. I think it looks great! Should be good for a casual ride or maybe even a little trail hopping!!!

I simple cut the neck tube off the 200x and ground it smooth. Then cut only the front half off of the 185 neck tube, which will leave a perfect saddle for the 200x neck to sit back in. This saddle will line everything up keeping it straight and true. It will also give you two straight and smooth vertical welding surfaces to weld up. Simple run a bead up both sides and bolt everything back up. This method does not sacrifice the integrity of the factory frame to neck connections. It was all done with a 4" grinder, cutt-off & grinding wheels and a basic welding machine. Nothing fancy.....

looks great man, the only thing i would suggest is sliding the fork tubes up in the tripples to level out the bottom of the frame, but some like the cali lean lol. looks like a sweet toy to tool around on tho
