Did us people get into trikes because they were cheaper than quads or other reasons?

I got into trikes recently because they are quite a bit cheaper than quads. It seems that most usable/mild basket case quads are still over 1grand (I got lucky with a 500 dollar complete Suzuki LT4wd though). I like bargains and buying 2 trikes for 100 bux is the kind of deals I like.

So why did you get into trikes? Cheap? Nostalgia? Porn?

i got in to them because i think they're fun to ride (although i have only been on/driven a 4 wheeler once and never had a chance to be on a dirtbike or any kind of motorcycle...yet).

If i wanted a cheaper quad I will buy a 90's or later four wheeler. I can buy like a 2001 Honda 300EX or 250 CHEAPER than most 3 wheelers. I just prefer the ATC,, MUCH MORE FUN TO RIDE.

My buddy has a 85 250R that was set up back in 84 for MX racing and he's still got it to this day. I rode it once and fell in love. Decided that i needed one and bought a 85 R about a week later.

I rode three wheelers for almost 10 years before I rode a quad (not to mention there were no quads when I started riding). I prefer 3 wheelers to quads. Also, because I'm a rebel.. just like my three wheelers.

I had a 110 when i was 12 and a 200x when i was 14. I'm not as young as i once was so it's definitly different now for me to ride. Back then trikes were all we had besides a bike and i have little skill for a bike. I recently picked up my trikes because they were cheap & cheap to fix. Plus i like to have something to fart around on. They are a tab bit easier on the yard than my quad. Also it's a hobby to buy things and sell them and as i do this i continue to upgrade to newer items when i can pull a profit. Quads here are in the 2k range and i already have a grizzly660 and i needed something smaller.

Back in 05 my cousin(I think his 3ww name was 250rfanatic86(something like that) ) He was rebuilding his 86 R in my shed, because he came down to visit. Anyways I juust sat on that thing and acted like I was driving it, then fell in love. Few months later I found out another one of my buddys had a 84 200s, he let me ride and after 2 end over end flips on it I decided it was time to get a three wheeler . That Is why I love three wheelers, I have owned them all several dirtbikes & tons of quads. Trikes are just funner.

Funnier to ride, and I like being an attention whore. You get a 1985 Tri-Z off the trailer it turns heads. Then when you can outrun the majority of the 450's on the flats it feels really good.

At some point when you own a quad there's always someone out there with something better then yours. I like to stand out.

Some of us have been riding them since before quads were even invented. I don't think the cost was an issue back then.

I loved them as a kid, but couldn't afford one. 2 years ago, after a bad injury that left me stuck in the house, I needed something to tinker with. That was my 350x. In the past couple of years I have gotten maybe 10 or 12 trikes, and parted a few that were too bad to save. I have learned that the different models all have their own personalities(my wife thinks I'm nuts), and they all have their place on the fun spectrum. I have one of almost every size now, and I love them all! Oh, and they're cheap!

the cheap factor is what got me started. my dad bought me my 110 when i was 7ish because it was cheap and nice. since i grew up on trikes i love them today but if they weren't cheap i may have ended up on a quad and never got into trikes.

also my dad got an 84 atc110 brand new when he was 14 so he grew up on them too

when i was younger, i used to travel to my aunts out in ohio. my step uncle had a tri z. the only reason i know it was a tri z is cause i remember it was yellow. we used to ride it all day and night, we crashed it a couple of times, but something about trikes just gave me the feeling of just amazement. i havent seen a trike in about 7 - 10 years, pretty much forgot about the things, until i came across someone selling one in my town. was looking to buy quad but saw this one, a 1985 200s, and fell in love. took it home that day and it was amazing fun ever since. i have since bout a 250es big red, which has been my baby and my dream trike, and also an 83 200. i have been bitten by the bug only i hope its one that will never go away. i have already vowed to own my big red for ever and ever, and some day hope to step up to a 350x if i could ever find one!
