    Jetting help

Im at sea level and have a 86 250r with fmf system, uni filter and a set of v force reeds. I cant seam to get it to idle no matter what I do I've replaced the float needle and running 145 main and the stock #42 pilot jet I always have to have my air screw out 2 - 3 turns and the idle turned up all the way. somtimes gas will leak out of the carb bowl over flow. When I cruize at 3rd or 4th gear at 1/3 throttle it surges. Can the float take on gas inside the plastic part? I've checked the float and took it in to the shop in town and he said its good to and the needle will hold 5 psi of air. Thanks

your jets are correct your needle should be in the third ring and the mix screw at 2 1/4 turns out.if thats right you should continue to look at the float, gas should not come out the overflow

Well today I took the R's out its dry today and 75 deg its been muggy and 85+ for the last 2 months. In the 86 250r thats stock I went from a 42 pilot to a 40. It idles fine and the air screw at 1 1/4 turn. It dont do that sputter at all at 1/3 throttle but when I come from a full throttle 6 gear run and down shift it bogs off of idle. I went to a 40 pilot in my ported bike to and it helped alittle. It just dont make sense to me that with a pipe and porting I would have to go leaner. The only thinkg I've found and heard was excessive wear from lots if use??
