That trike is gonna look awesome when done!!
I'm still working on the swing arm. It has the skid plate and mounts are bent and one is broken. I tried to straighten them back some tonight (and realized that the welder is out of wire). I got it looking like the mounts are back pretty close but I think the skid plate still needs work. I was going how I thought it should look, I don't have anything straight to go by. Does anyone know the dimension on the mounts? I was thinking about making something a little heavier duty, the best I could do straightening it and every angle looks different. Here's some pics.
What I started with
This is when I realized I was out of wire,
And this is what I ended up with
My shop is a mess, I trying to get some stuff sold and out of the way. Replace car parts with trike parts.
you plan on rebuilding any other trikes after this one?
This is my trike.

I didn't plan on this one, lol. This X is a long time dream and there isn't another bike like that. I have a couple things I would jump on if it was the right deal but don't plan on buying up random trikes just to have for parts later, but that could happen. If I had local people to ride with I'd likely at least be helping rebuild a few. I'm fortunate that I've got a roomy well equipped shop and group projects are normally done here, lol. If riding isn't a huge hassle I would like to have one around that my wife might ride some but like a 110 or 125 with a low range tranny. Something like that would be big enough for he but I could use the low range to get the kid started on trikes. A Big Red or 250es that me and the wife could share when the kid takes over the 110 or 125. I'm a big fan of team green, I think 86 Tecate 250 with green plastic, purple frame, seat cover, fork boots, flat black and polished here and there would be something I'd like to own. Or maybe some crazy power making big bore 250R, that would be fun.........Or is that how this whole thing starts? You start out with cheap riders then all of a sudden you're running your truck into a ditch on some back country road cause you heard someone saw a "green 3 wheeler" behind a barn "somewhere" out in there thinking it might be some long lost "works" Tecate 250 (replace works Tecate 250 with 58 VW convertible and it's a true story, LOL).
I want to finish this one first and go from there. I've had a history of unfinished project, one of which is funding this 200x. I'm waiting on some money to clear pay pal and then I'll get on the next round of ordering. Wheels, tires, brakes, chain and sprockets will come after bearings. Good handle bars and better switches, levers and perches, bark busters and lights. Last would be plastic and a seat cover. I've got a couple of big paying jobs in the coming weeks (out patient surgery tomorrow, that will slow me down for a couple days) and about $4K of car parts listed on CL and a couple of forums. I"ll buy thrike stuff as the money comes in from car parts. I've had allot of interest but money is tight everywhere and I'm just waiting for a couple people to get cash together. I've wanted this for a long time and I'm not going to sale it. I've seen some things I'd like to have listed here but I hate tire kickers. I don't bother someone until I have cash in hand to make and offer with. I'm waiting on a paypal transfer to clear for $450, That will go to the list, so it's just waiting til then. I'm seen sigs with people selling trike related stuff but never what I'm needing at the time. Any recommendations on where to buy some of this stuff, LMK. I normally just ebay everything. I can paypal, money order or cash face to face if locales allow.
i know spme websites that sells new oem parts but there more expensive.
i can get every stock part for any trike kawasaki honda yamaha.

I've mostly been trying to get an order list together and deciding what I need/want. Since I've decided to use the 8 in rears they needed to be redone and I found some places on the swing arm that needed to be welded. The engine wasn't ready when I went to pick it up, it looks like I'll have all the parts here to put it back together next weekend but I've thought that before. I messed with the brakes some and both master cylinders are shot. I'm not sure about the calipers. I have a couple master cylinders from the quad that I'm going to use to at least test the calipers. Here's some pics of the wheels, hubs and swingarm. I did the front oem aluminum wheel too so all the wheels would match. The boned chrome comes out of look like a nice polished aluminum, it's hard to tell the rears are steel. Anything was better than the pink/purple pearl, lol.

I got started putting the X back together today. I was hoping to have it rolling today but I forgot to order a chain tensioner and can't tighten up the swingarm til I get one. I got the tank treated/lined, mounted the tires, all the bearings in and it's starting to look like something. I put the forks in for the long wheel base but mounted the tire for short wheels base, I didn't know that was an option til tonight. The shorter will work better for me and changing the tubes is easier than turing that tire around. I hope to get a tensioner tomorrow and can get it down on the floor. The engine is ready to go back in but looks rough, I'll try to touch it up some. I'm really happy with everything so far. The wife doesn't like the gold but I like it and now that things are coming together I like it even better. I was over at a buddy's today and scored a like new OEM take tail light. Said he had taken it off a R he bought new and had been put up all that time.

It's really coming together well, make sure that you get some pics of it right when you finish it and not after you ride it lol.
It's a roller now !!!! I couldn't wait til Tuesday when the Honda shop was open to get a tensioner, so I made one and got something I can push. I rolled it out in the yard and took a few pictures. I'm so happy with the way everything has come out so far. I'm going to try to get the engine dolled up and ready to go back in. It's taken my longer to do everything but I never meant to get this anal about it either but I'm loving it so far.

cool looking roller! you been looking at new plastics yet? thats gonna look and feel brand new when your done!
Looks sweet!
Do it son.
great work man. looking awsome so far. Id love to see some pics of your booth, and oven setup.
MY FEEDBACK THREAD- http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthr...ight=aldochina
I'm planning black plastic with 250R front fender and headlight with red set cover and bar pad but I've got to ride it first. I want to make sure everything in the bottom end is good first (I believe it to be good). After a test ride, brakes and suspension is next. I need a rear master cylinder and I'll rebuild and PC everything while I have them apart. My controls are a little rough, I would like to find switches, levers and perches from something else that looked new, like maybe XR light switches and good perches/levers from a quad. Then the plastic and seat cover will be the icing, so too speak.
It's nothing to see. I build everything myself and I work with what I have, I'll cut cost when I can do it without cutting quality. My oven it 2' deep 4' wide and 6' high on the inside, the booth is 4' x 4' and 6' high with common heat pump filters and vented outside. The oven has good electronics, air flow and insulation and the booth has a dedicated ground rod with 6ga stranded copper wire connected to a swivel hanging bar. Both are pretty rough home made looking items but looks can fool you sometimes, lol. The frame is hanging in the booth I post something that's hanging in the oven. Are you into PC'ing or wanting to get into it? I've got book marks for lots on good info on the net, things like oven building and booth design, btu calculators and stuff. I don't know enough about it myself to be giving advice, a novice at best but any info I do have I'd be glad to share.
