Go on any ski-doo forum and do a search the boys are rigging them up and getting past the light dimming and getting brighter.

And again, the 55w hid are around 5000 lumen. I have not seen any leds close to that, AND flashlights that put out 1000's of lumens are insanely expensive. Many hundreds to many thousands of dollars.
I still would rather use LED's, just because of the white color (I think HID's come in more colors too?).

BTW, ever consider putting some more offroad lights up front?

EDIT: I found this interesting article on HID's: http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...dvantages.html

Quick update for anyone who's interested. The stock 200x stator is nowhere near enough to reliably power a 55w HID. From what I've found out the stock stator goes from something like 15w - maybe 60watts. Even with the battery and regulator/rectifier, the stator just can't keep up. You would have to pretty much be on the throttle ALL the time.

Anyways, ricky stator sells and upgraded stator which puts out more at idle and max, but my buddy decided to just try to rewind some himself. First one he used 18G wire and wrapped it to about the same level as stock. At idle it's noticeably brighter and when you give it gas, WOW, it's like a 350x, and that's with the stock bulbs. We haven't taken any measurements yet, but I'm sure that will be enough for 1, 55W HID. He just finished rewinding a second one, it's a beast compared to the stock. He added some of the little metal shims on the 2 ends of the stator, and ended up adding over 5 feet of additional wire. Had to do some dremel work in the cover to get it to fit. Will test later. Also wondering what 16G wire will do.[IMG][/IMG]

Don't know if you have seen LED Lensers spotlight, the X21, but it's rated to 12,000 lumens, which is the brightness of the sun
Are you using one of these bulbs? If so, where did you get yours at? If you ever find these online I would be very interested in finding out more about them.

    Thanks man.

I went with a single 55 watt HID with ballast from http://www.ddmtuning.com/Product-Cat...-Kits-Lighting

I got a cheap regulator/rectifier from ebay for $10, but it never worked right. Am going to buy one from https://www.bajadesigns.com/NET/Sear...word=rectifier

    Went with this battery http://www.batteryspec.com/cgi-bin/c...nk&product=310

Could have used a different battery, but we will see how this works. It is mounted where the tool box was.

Tell ya on thing, this 55w HID is BRIGHT!

Could you post pictures of how you mounted your battery? Thanks!
